“I am thrilled to share the incredible progress I’ve made, thanks to the invaluable support from Cameras for Girls. Your mentorship has guided me every step of the way, and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to empower young girls through photography.
As I finalize my report for the President of Uganda and our sponsors, I am proud to highlight the skills I’ve gained and the impact they’ve had on the girls I’ve trained. The report not only reflects my own growth but also showcases the impressive talent of these young photographers, who have contributed their own inspiring work. I’m honoured to have helped nurture their creativity and potential.

“My name is Mollan Joyce, a Ugandan female photographer. I got my best photography training from Cameras for Girls, where I was under the mentorship of Amina Mohamed, who I can say has put her life online in the desire to give a girl a chance to excel. I was in the third cohort (2022-2023), where I discovered that photography was more than just a passion but a tool and a key to my future aspirations.
As a beneficiary of the organization, I am writing to express my sincerest gratitude for your generous sponsorship of Cameras for Girls. Your support has made a significant impact, empowering young women and the next generation of women to explore their creativity, express themselves, and pursue their passions through photography.
Your commitment to providing girls with access to cameras equips them with a valuable skill and fosters confidence, self-expression, and a sense of empowerment. By investing in our development, you are helping to shape the next generation of female photographers and leaders.”

“As journalism students, we study photography, but it’s mainly the basics to get through class and pass exams. When Cameras For Girls gave me the opportunity to study photography - well I must say it has been an awakening. I did not realize there was a lot in a camera that I would use to be able to take good photos. I am now confident and believe in my skills to take pictures and do anything I put my mind to. I now own a camera, and I am ready to take pictures and change the world.”

"One of my articles was published this week. My editor appreciated what you did for me because I was about to lose my job, and the fact that I can now own a camera, I was put on the payroll, and I’m going to start being paid in September because I’ve not been getting my salary ever since I started working in June. I’ll forever live to be grateful for what you did for me and my family.”

“I didn’t exactly know what to expect as I came in for Day 1. I was scared I wouldn’t understand or know how to apply the concepts. However, the in-depth theory of the different aspects of photography helped me grasp the concepts and the continuous recaps and questions.
Practice sessions and especially the daily reviews helped me to know what I should have in the back of my mind as a photographer.Ugandan Student from the 2nd Cohort, 2022

I genuinely believe attending Cameras For Girls will help me achieve my goals because I love to see myself growing in my photography skills. I am an artist in Uganda, and when I got in touch with Cameras For Girls 2021, I took only a short time to learn because of the excellent tutorials and weekly calls I attended with Amina. I can now see where I'm heading because I had no focus or vision before. I knew Art was my talent, but I didn't care about it. Cameras For Girls is making many changes in many girls' lives, and I am grateful to be a part of it.

Thanks to your generous support, I’ve been able to pursue my passion for photography with confidence and skill, learning everything from technical camera operation to storytelling and business fundamentals.

Awien Rose Madot
“Cameras for Girls has been a transformative experience that has ignited a passion within me that I never knew existed. Before joining the program, I saw photography as a mere hobby. Now, I see it as a powerful tool for storytelling and social change.
The program equipped me with the technical skills and creative vision to capture the world through my lens. But more importantly, it fostered a sense of confidence and empowerment. I learned how to find my voice, and how to use my camera to tell stories that matter.
The mentorship and support I received were invaluable. The program not only taught me about photography but also about leadership, teamwork, and perseverance and about going out there ans being confident, not shying away because I am a woman. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring community of young women.
Cameras for Girls has opened doors for me that I never thought possible such as my participation in the unveiled visions organized by UPPA in collaboration with ILO (international labor organization) where my work was part of their exhibition and where I emerged one of the winners. I am excited to use my newfound skills and opportunities to make a difference in my community and beyond.
Thank you, Cameras for Girls, for investing in my future and that of many other young women.”
