Alex Sekitoleko is an award-winning Ugandan filmmaker, video journalist, and ethical storytelling trainer with over 13 years of experience in visual storytelling. As the Volunteer Coordinator for Cameras For Girls in Uganda, Alex plays a pivotal role in managing and mentoring volunteers, ensuring smooth program delivery, and fostering an empowering learning environment for young women pursuing careers in journalism and photography.
Alex’s media journey began after earning his bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Makerere University. His professional career has included notable roles, such as freelance video journalist for BBC News from 2021 to 2023 and video journalist at WBS Television, Uganda, from 2013 to 2016. His commitment to impactful storytelling also extends to training nonprofit communication teams, helping them tell ethical, engaging stories that drive change.
In 2023, Alex joined Cameras For Girls as a trainer and mentor, later stepping into the Volunteer Coordinator role. In this capacity, he collaborates with team members and volunteers to ensure the program's success, offering guidance and support to help volunteers maximize their impact. His work is fueled by a passion for building strong, purpose-driven communities where each story is told with integrity and respect.
Alex inspires a new generation of storytellers in Uganda through his expertise and leadership, empowering them with the tools to challenge gender inequality in media spaces.
