Our 2023 Tanzania 4-day workshop experience

In 2019, just ten months after our inaugural workshop, we returned to Uganda to continue the journey we had begun in August 2018. The overwhelming interest and clear need for practical training in photography and storytelling prompted us to act quickly and capitalize on the momentum.

Our second cohort of students confirmed what we already knew: young women in journalism and communications were eager for opportunities to develop the hands-on skills often lacking in their university education. This workshop solidified the importance of creating consistent, ongoing training for women determined to break into male-dominated media spaces.

2019 was a year of growth and validation, showing us that what Cameras For Girls had to offer was not only wanted but truly needed.
