How Corporate Partners Can Power Big Impact for Small Charities
At Cameras For Girls, we believe real change begins with one story, one skill, and one opportunity. As a small Canadian charity, and newly formed nonprofit in Uganda, working across Africa, we’ve witnessed how access to a camera, hands-on training, and the confidence to tell your own story can shape the course of a young woman’s future.
But change doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through collaboration.
That’s where corporate partnerships come in. And for a small charity like ours, the difference your company can make is nothing short of transformative.

Who We Are
Cameras For Girls was founded to address a pressing gap: Young women across Africa are earning degrees in journalism and communications but graduating without the tools, experience, or support to secure paid employment in a media industry that remains largely male-dominated. We created a solution that goes beyond training—it builds confidence, provides equipment, and ensures long-term support.
Our program is grounded in a four-phase curriculum delivered over the course of one year. Students learn photography, ethical storytelling, media literacy, editing, business development, and job-readiness skills. Each woman receives a camera to keep, and we collaborate with local and international partners to support their transition into paid employment. Since 2018, over 80% of our graduates have secured jobs or internships in journalism, communications, and photography.
We’re proud of our impact, but to expand, we need the right partners at the table.
Why Corporate Support Matters
Small charities often operate on a lean budget, and while this enables us to remain agile, it also means our ability to scale depends on external support. Corporate partners bring more than funding—they bring visibility, infrastructure, and shared purpose.
Your support enables us to:
Train more young women and provide each of them with a camera
Expand our programming to reach underserved regions
Hire local mentors and trainers, building leadership from within
Cover essential costs like travel, venue rental, and equipment
Provide paid internships or job placements for our graduates
Build long-term capacity, allowing us to sustain and grow our work
When you support Cameras For Girls, you’re not just giving; you’re investing in long-term systems change.
Ways to Partner With Us
We recognize that every company brings different resources, interests, and capacities. That’s why we offer multiple ways to collaborate, each tied directly to real-world outcomes for the girls and women we serve.

We accept donations of DSLR and mirrorless cameras, camera accessories, laptops, and licensed software, such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. We also welcome donated venues or spaces for training.

What Makes Our Work Unique
At the heart of Cameras For Girls is a commitment to ethical storytelling, community-driven change, and practical skill-building. But these aren’t just buzzwords; they are the foundation of everything we do.
We believe in long-term investment, not short-term charity. Our program is structured to last a full year because we know transformation doesn’t happen in a single workshop. It takes time to build trust, skills, and confidence. Our four-phase model ensures that each participant receives sustained mentorship, real-world assignments, and a clear path to a paid employment opportunity.
We also believe in shifting the power of storytelling into the hands of those who have long been excluded from shaping their own narratives. We don’t speak for our students or tell stories about them; we train them to tell their own stories with dignity, nuance, and agency. From how we teach consent-based photography to how we refer to our participants as students or collaborators, not "beneficiaries," we model the ethical practices we want to see in media and nonprofit spaces.
Unlike larger organizations that are often removed from the communities they serve, we operate from within. We partner with local trainers, universities, and media organizations. We work alongside our students, not above them. And we don’t measure success by vanity metrics. We measure it by lives shifted, girls who once had no job now earning a living, and communities hearing stories that had never been told before.
We are a small organization with big results. And those results are not abstract - they are tangible, visible, and lasting. Each camera given, each photo taken, and each story shared is a step toward equity, visibility, and economic independence for young African women.
Your Role in Building Sustainable Change
Corporate support enables us to exceed our goals. You allow us to build sustainably, expand responsibly, and increase our reach across Africa. With your partnership, we can train thousands more women, provide tools that last a lifetime, and shift the balance in media industries where women’s voices are still underrepresented.
If you are a business leader seeking a meaningful and measurable way to give back and one that supports economic INpowerment, gender equity, and ethical media, let’s talk.
Together, we can build a future where every girl with a story to tell has the skills, tools, and platform to share it.
